Privacy Notice

This notice explains what information Maagal collects, why we use it, who may receive it, and the choices available to you. Maagal is operated by Aaron Gawronsky, an individual in Israel (“Maagal,” “I,” “me,” or “we”). For privacy questions or requests, email maagalivritevents@gmail.com.

1. Who can use Maagal

Maagal currently accepts adults only. To create an account you must be at least 18 and at least the age of legal adulthood where you live, if that age is higher. We do not currently offer a parental-consent pathway or accounts for minors. The signup age check is a self-attestation; we do not currently verify age documents. If you believe a person under this age has an account, contact us and we will review it and take appropriate steps, including closing the account.

2. Information we collect

3. How we use information

We use information to create and secure accounts; provide Hebrew cards, reviews, tools, recordings and progress views; plan and manage Circles; remember your preferences; send necessary account and service messages; respond to support requests; maintain and protect the service; investigate abuse; and meet legal obligations. Maagal administrators can access information needed to administer accounts, respond to support and safety issues, and operate the service. Instructors can access the roster, bookings and attendance information for sessions they lead. Administrators can review onboarding and feedback submissions. The current long-term goal record is learner-readable; the upcoming goal support system may give designated instructors and administrators access to the specified goal information, after notice and matching access controls are in place. We use personal learning information only for service operation and support, not to make a verified proficiency judgment from time studied, review counts, Circle attendance or a self-reported “I can” milestone. These measures remain distinct: time studied does not establish proficiency, attendance does not establish participation quality, and a self-report is not a verified assessment.

Some optional sharing features let you choose to publish a deck, an aggregate progress snapshot or an approximate community location. These choices are separate from accepting the Terms and acknowledging this Notice. A person with an unlisted link may be able to see the item. Other people or services may save a copy before you revoke a link or change visibility.

4. AI and language tools

Some current AI-assisted Hebrew features send the text you enter to Maagal’s server-side function and then to Anthropic to generate a response. Do not put private reasons, health details, or other sensitive information into an AI prompt. AI output may be wrong, incomplete or inappropriate; review it before relying on it. Maagal does not grant itself permission through this Notice to train models on private goals, class recordings or personal pronunciation recordings.

A planned goal-drafting tool is intended to run an open-source model in your browser, with an editable deterministic fallback. That feature is not covered as an existing data flow here: model assets may be downloaded from an external host, and we will verify the actual network behavior and update this Notice before enabling it. Do not assume that all Maagal AI runs locally or that no information ever leaves your browser.

5. When information is shared

These providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live, including Israel, the United States or other countries where they or their infrastructure operate. We do not yet publish a verified region-by-region map of storage, support access, logs, backups and transfers. We will complete that provider review before treating this Notice as final.

6. Recording in Circles

Circles are not normally recorded. A host may record a particular session; any such recording may be kept for up to one year and can be viewed only by instructors and administrators. A host must give clear notice before recording begins. If you do not want to be recorded, do not join that recorded session and contact us about another option. Meeting-platform providers may also process the live session under their own terms. Do not record, photograph or distribute another participant’s image, voice or contributions without permission and any consent required by law.

7. How long we keep information

There is not one fixed deletion period for every category. We keep account and learning records while needed to provide the service and administer the account. You can delete individual pronunciation recordings using the controls provided; an aggregate speaking-activity total may remain after an individual take is removed. Closed feedback reports are scheduled for deletion 21 days after closure. Circle recordings are kept for no more than one year. Booking, attendance and correction history, email-consent records, security records and legal records may need different periods. A minimal policy-acceptance record may remain after account closure with its direct account link removed.

We have not verified every vendor’s backup and log retention schedule. Copies in provider backups or disaster-recovery systems may remain until those systems overwrite them. We will not promise immediate removal from every backup. We are establishing a documented retention schedule and account-closure checklist; until that work is complete, contact us if you need a specific deletion request reviewed.

8. Your choices and privacy rights

You can update profile details, control optional marketing/update and reminder preferences, choose community-map participation, manage deck visibility, stop progress links, and delete saved recordings using available account controls. You may ask us to access, correct, delete, restrict or provide your personal information, or object to or withdraw consent where applicable. You may also complain to the privacy regulator in your place of residence. Rights and exceptions vary by law; we will assess a request under the laws that apply to you.

To make a request, email maagalivritevents@gmail.com from your account email where possible. We may ask for information needed to verify that you control the account. We will respond within applicable legal time limits. Some information may need to be retained or restricted for legal claims, security, fraud prevention or legal obligations.

9. Security and international service

We use account permissions, private storage and other safeguards intended to protect information, but no website or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized account access. Maagal is operated from Israel and can be used internationally; information may be processed across borders as described above.

10. Changes and contact

We may update this Notice when our practices or legal obligations change. We will update the version date on this page and give notice of material changes through the site or by email when appropriate. The signup record notes the Notice version acknowledged. For privacy requests and questions, contact Aaron Gawronsky at maagalivritevents@gmail.com.
